Application information

Intended study programme at University of Graz:

- English Master's without entrance restriction

- English Master's (with entrance restriction)

Nationality: Third country

University entrance qualification: obtained in Germany

Studies without restriction

The following study programs are offered in English and do not need an additional entrance procedure:

- master program Political and Empirical Economics

- master program Political, Economic and Legal Philosophy (PELP)


Please mention your intention to study the study program in English on your application form! If it is not explicitly mentioned, the application will automatically be considered for the German study program.  

For the master's programs, you have to hand in proof of English knowledge instead of a German certificate.

We accept the following English certificates:

  1. TOEFL iBT (score of at least 87)
  2. IELTS (score of at least 6.5)
  3. Cambridge Proficiency English CPE or
  4. Cambridge Advanced English CAE (score of at least 180/ Grade C or better)

Besides the language certificate all country specific requirements are the same as for master programmess in German.


When applying you need to present the following original documents:

  • Application for enrolment for international students
  • Evidence of accomplished Bachelor/ Diploma degree (diploma and transcript of records with ECTS or contact hours)
  • Syllabus of accomplished degree with course description and ECTS or contact hours per semester
  • Qualification Statement: Evidence that admission requirements to the same Master’s program at a recognized university in the country where the Bachelor/ Diploma degree was obtained are fulfilled for the semester/ academic year in which admission is sought in Graz, including the general duration of this program. (equal to evidence of Admission)
  • Copy of passport or ID card

Selection procedure

The selection procedure is organised by Graz University of Technology.

Information on the selection procedure and the deadlines are available on the webpage of NAWI Graz

The written application for your chosen university is to be presented only after you have positively completed the selection procedure. Those who positively complete the selection procedure then receive information on the written application.

Tuition fee

Regular students with third country nationality pay a tuition fee of currently € 746.42 per semester.
