Please note that the allocation of a university place by means of the individual entrance examination is an enrolment prerequisite!
Admission
The German "Abitur" is equal to the Austrian Matura.
In Austria, the German "Fachgebundene Hochschulreife" is only valid for those study programmes listed on your school certificate.
In the case of bachelor and teacher training programmes with entrance examination, direct admission (without previously going through the admission procedure for international students) is only possible when you have been allocated a university place after positive completion of the entrance examination. Admission and enrolment is therefore only possible with proof of your university place, which is acquired by completing the entrance examination.
The German "Fachhochschulreife" does not qualify you to study in Austria.
When enrolling you need to present the following original documents:
- Application for Enrolment for International Students
- Secondary school leaving certificate (Abitur)
- Confirmation of passed entrance examination
- Copy of passport or ID card
The secondary school leaving certificate has to be presented in the original version or as legalized copy. Plain copies will not be accepted!
Please note that the legalized copy confirms that the copy is the same as the original document. This must not be confused with the exemption of the legalization of the origial documents!
Legalization of original documents
Exemption of legalization: Due to a bilateral agreement with Austria, the original documents are exempted from legalization.
Deadlines
Please mind the registration deadlines for the entrance examination!
The admission period ends for the winter semster on 05 September and for the summer semester on 05 February.
If the results from the entrance examination are out after the end of the general admission period, registration is also possible within the grace period.
Tuition fee
Regular students with an EU/ EEA nationality only pay the student union fee per semester as long as they study in the minimum study duration (plus grace semester).
Regular students with third country nationality pay a tuition fee as well as the student union fee per semester.
