Deregistration / Additional studies / changing programmes

Would you like to deregister from one or more degree programmes?

Before you apply for deregistration, please note the following points:

  • Find out in advance from the relevant offices (tax office, scholarship office, etc.) whether deregistration will affect financial benefits from grants, scholarships, etc.

  • Please note that no examination credits can be entered in UNIGRAZonline for the relevant degree programme from the time the application for deregistration is submitted.

  • If you are registered for courses or examinations via the degree programme to be deregistered and would then like to take them via another degree programme, please ask the relevant institute in advance whether there may be any problems or what needs to be taken into account.

If all these points have been clarified and you wish to deregister from one or more degree programmes, please submit the "Application for deregistration" via UNIGRAZonline. On your personal start page in UNIGRAZonline, you will find the application "Online Application Academic Affairs" - "Application for deregistration".
Once your application has been processed, you will receive corresponding information by e-mail.

Students who are already enrolled in a degree program at the University of Graz and would like to enrol for a further degree program, write an e-mail from the student e-mail address during the admission period and provide the following data:

  • Matriculation number
  • Name
  • Desired study programe

Please note!

  • Please note the deadlines for degree programs with restricted admission!

  • If you are planning to complete a Bachelor's degree program during the semester in order to start a Master's degree program immediately afterwards, please contact us by e-mail or you will be informed automatically by e-mail after completing your Bachelor's degree program.

  • If you were or are already enrolled at another university in Austria for the relevant degree program, you must submit a certificate of departure.

  • A new degree program only becomes active once the tuition fee or student union fee for the semester in question has been received (approx. 3 to 5 days after payment). Registration for courses for the new degree program is only possible once the fee has been received.

Would you like to change your degree programme?

Before you can do this, please note the following points:

  • Observe the admission deadlines and deadlines for restricted programmes!

  • Find out in advance from the relevant offices (tax office, scholarship office, etc.) whether the change will affect financial benefits from scholarships or grants!

  • If you change your degree programme, one degree programme is closed and a new degree programme is opened. Therefore, completed examinations must be recognised for the new degree programme.

  • Attention for teacher training and transcultural communication studies:
If you change subjects or languages, the degree program is closed completely and the new subject or language combination is opened. This means that you are always automatically subject to the latest curriculum. Completed examinations must be recognized for the new combination.

  • Find out in advance about recognition options and the duration of the recognition procedure (ÖH or Dean's Office)

  • Please note that all examinations must be entered in the system BEFORE the change of degree programme.

  • If you are planning to complete a Bachelor's degree programme during the semester in order to start a Master's degree programme immediately afterwards, please contact us by email or you will be informed automatically by email after completing your Bachelor's degree programme.

  • If you were or are already enrolled at another university in Austria for the relevant degree programme, you must submit a certificate of departure.

  • A new degree programme only becomes active once the tuition fee or student union fee for the semester in question has been received (approx. 3 to 5 days after payment). Registration for courses for the new degree programme is only possible once the fee has been received.

If all these points have been clarified and you would like to deregister from one or more studies and enrol for further studies at the same time, please submit the “Application for deregistration” via UNIGRAZonline. On your personal start page in UNIGRAZonline, you will find the application “Online Application Academic Affairs” - “Application for deregistration”.

To enroll in a new degree program, please send us an email with the exact name of the desired degree program to studienabteilung(at)uni-graz.at .

If you are enrolled in the relevant degree program at another university in Austria or have been enrolled in the past, please enclose a certificate of deregistration (Abgangsbescheinigung).

For degree programs with restricted admission, the confirmation of admission (for teacher training: confirmation of Module B) must be submitted.

For the subject of physical education and the bachelor's program in sports and exercise science, confirmation of the motor skills aptitude test must be submitted.

Please make sure to specify the name of the new program very precisely and to enclose the necessary supporting documents in order to avoid queries and delays.

Would you like to switch to the latest curriculum?

Before you change your curriculum, please note the following points:

  • It is not possible to return to the old curriculum under any circumstances!

  • Please note the admission deadlines !

  • Find out in advance about recognition options and the duration of the recognition procedure (ÖH or Dean's Office)

  • Please note that all examinations must be entered in the system BEFORE the transfer.

  • Completed examinations must be recognised for the new curriculum. Information on recognition can be obtained from the relevant dean's office or examination office.

  • The changeover to the current curriculum will only take effect once the prescribed semester fee for the semester in question has been received (approx. 3 to 5 days after payment).
You can see which curriculum version you are currently in in UNIGRAZonline in the applications "My studies NEW" and "Student file".

Once all these points have been clarified and you would like to make the switch, please submit the "Application for a change of curriculum" via UNIGRAZonline. On your personal start page in UNIGRAZonline you will find the application "Online Application Academic Affairs" - "Application for a change of curriculum".

Once your application has been processed, you will receive the relevant information by e-mail.
