Admission to master's program at the University of Graz

Would you like to begin a master's program at the University of Graz and have you completed your preliminary studies at an Austrian educational institution (university/university of applied sciences/university of education)? Here you will find all the important information you need for your admission.
Requirements for admission
To start a Master's programme at the University of Graz, you must fulfil the following requirements:
- To begin a master's program at the University of Graz, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must have completed a bachelor's degree or a degree that corresponds to at least the same level of education.
- You must meet the specific admission requirements for the desired master's program. These can be found in the respective curriculum.
Steps for admission
Step 1: Create a basic account
Register online and create a basic account.
Step 2: Enter your data and submit documents
Fill in your personal data and upload the required documents.
Processing by the Academic Affairs Office:
Once your application has been received, it will be reviewed by the Admissions Office:
- Documents missing: You will receive an email requesting you to submit the missing documents.
- Your application is complete: Your application will be forwarded to the relevant Curriculum Committee (CuKo) for evaluation.
Decision of the Curriculum Committee:
The relevant Curriculum Committee will check whether you meet the admission requirements and make one of the following decisions:
a) Admission without supplementary examinations
- You will receive an email regarding your "application for enrollment".
- You can download this under "My applications ► Actions ► Check the status of my application ► Enrollment."
- Enrollment will take place as soon as you submit the signed application during the admission period.
b) Admission with supplementary examinations
- A legal procedure will be initiated and you will receive a letter (hearing of the parties) from the legal department.
Note: You can submit a statement or agree to the supplementary examinations by email. Your agreement will speed up the issuance of the admission notice. - After receiving your admission notice, you can download your application for enrollment under "My applications ► Actions ► Check the status of my application ► Enrollment."
- Enrollment will take place as soon as you submit the signed application during the admission period.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with any information about possible supplementary examinations in advance. Any supplementary examinations that are required can be taken during your master's program. Exception: If a deadline is specified in the supplementary examination notice, the examinations must be completed within this period.
c) No admission
- A legal procedure will be initiated and you will receive a letter (hearing of the parties) from the legal department.
- You can submit a statement. If there is no response, you will receive a notice after the deadline has expired.

Further information
If you have completed a bachelor's degree at the University of Graz and now wish to begin a master's degree program that builds on this (e.g., Bachelor of Business Administration → Master of Business Administration), you can enroll directly without first submitting an application.
⚠️Important:
Your bachelor's degree and academic title must be visible in the UNIGRAZonline system before you can enroll.
As soon as your degree has been activated, you can email us your request for enrollment during the admission period. Please send us the following information:
- Your student ID number
- The exact name of the desired master's program
- Your current residential address, email address, and telephone number
- The express wish for immediate enrollment
Please make sure you meet the admission period in order to complete your enrollment on time.
Online application
Online applications are only possible during the respective Submission Deadlines.
The processing time depends on the type of admission:
- Without supplementary examinations: shorter processing time
- With supplementary examinations or in case of rejection: Processing can take up to 12 weeks, as an administrative procedure (issuing a hearing and notice) is required.
Please take this time into account when planning your studies.
