Master's Studies

Application for a master's degree program

You must submit an application so that we can check whether an admission is possible.

The application is deemed to have been submitted if:

  1. You have a basic account. You can create a basic account here.
  2. You have uploaded an application for the degree program you would like to study via the basic account
  3. You have uploaded the required, correct, original documents as PDF in your online application

Applications that are not complete cannot be processed! So make sure that you fulfill all 3 points.

Here you will find the instructions for the online pre-registration: data capture for prospective students who do not yet have a basic account.

Information on required documents

The application for admission to a Master's Programme requires the following documents:

No, this is not possible. As the legalization must be checked by us, the original documents must be submitted.

If the original documents are not issued in German or English, a translation must also be provided. The translation can be in German or English. The translation does not replace the original. Both must be submitted.

The translation must be prepared by a court-certified translator.

Translations from Austria as well as from abroad are accepted.

Foreign documents generally only have the same evidential value as domestic public documents if they hold the mandatory legalisation on the original documents. The necessary legalisation depends on the country the document was issued in.

Detailed information about the necessary legalisation can be found here.

The legalization must always be affixed to the original document. Documents without the required legalization cannot be considered for admission.

Language certificates do not have to be legalized.

No! Applications that are not submitted completely and correctly will not be processed or must be rejected. A new application for the same degree programme in the same semester is then no longer possible. Therefore, do not apply until you have all documents, certifications and language certificates. Only complete applications will be processed!

In any case, a confirmation issued by the university must be provided that the degree program has been fully completed. As a gesture of goodwill, the university may accept a provisional certificate up to one year after graduation.

If the degree was completed more than one year ago, a final diploma must be provided. Under no circumstances will we accept provisional certificates if it has been more than one year since graduation!

No! Applications are only possible after completion of the previous studies.

Restricted Study Programs

Admission to the Master's degree program in Psychology and the Master's degree program in Pharmacy is restricted. This means that you must also take part in an admission procedure for these programs.

The admission procedure is carried out by a different department. If you have any questions about the admission procedure, please contact the relevant department:

https://studienzugang.uni-graz.at/de/

ATTENTION: The registration for the admission procedure and the application to the Academic Affairs Office are independent of each other.

Especially for international applicants who have to attend the preparatory course, this means that they have to make sure to complete the admission procedure for the academic year in which they will complete the preparatory course.

The admission procedure for the restricted EnglishNAWI Graz degree programs takes place once a year. Only applicants who pass the admission procedure can apply via the online portal of the University of Graz.

Detailed information on the selection procedure can be found here.

You will be informed by email when to upload the application after you have been selected for the degree program you have applied for.

You can find a list of English taught Master's programs here.

All other courses are only offered in German. Therefore, a German certificate is required in any case.

Information regarding the upload of documents

Please ensure that only documents of sufficient quality can be processed. Missing or poor-quality documents can lead to longer processing times and, as a result, even to the rejection of the application.

Therefore, make sure that the respective documents meet the following aspects:

  • All pages (front and back) of the documents are included
  • The writing is legible (not blurred, not too small)
  • Stamps, signatures and, if applicable, legalizations are fully recognizable (not cut off at the edge)
  • The document must not contain any etchings, manual changes, etc
  • Documents that are not in German or English must be uploaded as one PDF file containing the original and the relevant translation
  • You have signed the application form yourself
