Tuition Fee

Welcome to the Homepage of the Academic Affairs Office!

On the following pages, we would like to inform you about the tuition fee regulations.

Tuition fee regulations were amended again as of 11 January 2013 (publication in the Federal Law Gazette / Bundesgesetzblatt). Now, the fee is no longer payable to the University of Graz as an autonomous body. The new Regulation applies to all Austrian universities.

During the tuition fee free period* students from Austria, EU- or EEA countries, convention refugees as well as third Country citizens with an equal Status as EU/EEA citizens are exempt from the tuition fee!

* tuition fee free period means: the minumum study Duration + grace period for the registered study Programme or Programmes.

Detailed infomation can be found here:

Several study programmes

If students participate in more than one study programme at an Austrian university, the period in which they need not pay tuition fees will apply to each separate study programme. In this context, it does not matter which programme is considered as the "major programme".

Tuition fees are charged for the programme in which the period not requiring the tuition fees ends first.

Detailed Information can be found here: Calculating the study duration

If students participate in more than one study programme at different universities, each university calculates its own tuition fee-free periods.

Detailed Information can be found here: Re-Registration/Payment
